Not everyone who wants to learn carpentry work comprehensively wants a carpentry qualification so we have devised this 4 week course to take you through all of the essential carpentry requirements without the headache of undertaking City & Guilds assessments. A very thorough, non-accredited training option - can also be completed at weekends.

This 4 weeks of hands on carpentry training will see you progress from a novice to a competent Carpenter with the course designed to build your skills gradually until various aspects of carpentry becomes second nature and at this Centre where ‘reality’ is important, this is easily achieved.
We will provide you with training and assessment in several areas of Carpentry covering first fix aspects like cutting and laying floor joists and fixing door linings as well as second fix aspects such as hanging doors and fitting skirtings and architraves etc.
The course is designed to build your skills gradually by providing training on smaller carpentry work and building to the more complex areas as the course progresses.
The areas in which you will be trained on are:
- Fixing Skirting to a timber background
- Fixing floor joists and laying flooring
- Fixing door lining in stud partition or blockwork opening
- Hanging an internal door
- Fixing and stabilising trussed rafters
- Setting out and cutting one pair of common rafters
- Operating basic wood machines
This 4 weeks of hands on ‘reality’ training will cover all of the basic and essential skills that any Carpenter will need in order to provide a competent service to any potential customer. This 4 weeks of hands on carpentry training will see you progress from a novice to a competent Carpenter with the course designed to build your skills gradually until carpentry becomes second nature.
This 4 week carpentry course will provide you with in depth training to cover 10 areas of essential carpentry. Even though you will not be going through a qualification process your progress will be consistently assessed by our qualified Carpentry instructors, giving you the same benefits as someone who might be training with us for qualification purposes.
Courses Open To You AfterAble Skills also offers the option to do a Hands-On Joinery course – again covering the units of a City & Guilds qualification but without the paperwork and certification at the end.
Additional InfoThis course can be covered over a period to suit you and you can train for 4 consecutive weeks, divide your weeks up or even incorporate some weekend training if you have ongoing weekly commitments. At Able Skills we aim to make our qualifications as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on an interest free pay as you train basis.
This is a hands-on, practical carpentry course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
Duration & CostThis is a 4 Week (20 day) course and the cost is £1295.00 including vat. A deposit of £400.00 will secure a booking with the balance payable over the period of the training.
