Hands On Plastering Course

What You’ll Learn

This 4 week course will teach you plastering to City & Guilds standards but without the assessment process and therefore without the qualification paperwork at the end. Qualifications are not for everyone and so this course has been put together for those of you who just want to come in and get on with learning the trade of plastering. We will provide you with the plastering training to meet the standards as required by City & Guilds but without the requirement of portfolio building and completion.

The areas in which you will be trained on are:

• Repairing a patch in a plastered wall
• Boarding and setting a ceiling in one coat
• Applying a floating coat to wall and attached pier
• Applying and finishing the setting coat to a floored wall and attached pier
• Applying a floating coat to a square or rectangular column
• Applying a floating finishing coat to a square or rectangular column
• Scrim and skim finish with plaster
• Re-plaster over textured ceiling using bonding agent
• Applying a plain rendering and finish with a wood float
• Fixing bell cast bead and applying scratch coats to wall areas

How You’ll Learn

This 4 weeks of hands on ‘reality’ training will cover all of the basic and essential skills that any Plasterer will need in order to provide a competent service to any potential customer. This 4 weeks of hands on plastering training will see you progress from a novice to a competent Plasterer with the course designed to build your skills gradually until plastering becomes second nature.

This 4 week plastering course will provide you with in depth training to cover 10 areas of essential plastering. Even though you will not be going through a qualification process your progress will be consistently assessed by our qualified Plastering instructors, giving you the same benefits as someone who might be training with us for qualification purposes.

Courses Open To You After

With the plastering skills under your belt you could consider our Kingspan accredited Internal Wall Insulation course or if you gain immediate access to work, you could eventually be a candidate suited to On-site assessment to achieve NVQ.

Additional Info

This course can be covered over a period to suit you and you can train for 4 consecutive weeks, divide your weeks up or even incorporate some weekend training if you have ongoing weekly commitments. At Able Skills we aim to make our qualifications as accessible as is possible and additionally we offer a payment plan which, following a deposit, is on an interest free pay as you train basis.

This is a hands-on, practical plastering course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.

Duration & Cost

This is a 4 Week (20 day) course and the cost is £1295.00 including vat. A deposit of £400.00 will secure a booking with the balance payable over the period of the training.
