It seems that the pursuit of happiness is now a therapeutic goal as well as a constitutional right in the western world. Economists tell us that happiness leads to prosperity. Psychologists argue that this emotional state is essential for our individual freedom.

This workshop is aimed at all interested therapist and will examine the claims of 'positive' psychologists, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and other psychological approaches to promoting happiness, personal growth and resilience through the therapeutic frame.

* Participants will learn about psychological approaches to 'happiness' work in therapy.
* Participants will be able to learn about and contribute to a critical evaluation of the role of happiness as a construct in modern society and in therapy.
* Participants will be able to consider the application of positive psychology and CBT strategies to their clinical practice.
