Harbour Masters

Course review:

Harbour masters, and their wider team, are uniquely responsible for managing the marine safety functions of a port or harbour. In today’s world, the management of shipping movements within those confined waters, together with vessel safety and security, have become a complex and demanding task which requires a comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, risk control techniques and navigational management. Whilst general marine experience will continue to be an important requirement for harbour masters, managing a safe and secure port or harbour today demands detailed specialist knowledge. This course provides that knowledge. Students successfully completing the course will be awarded an internationally recognised diploma, signifying their achievement in acquiring the knowledge required by a harbour master.
