The Mandala, an archetypal symbol of wholeness has been used throughout the world as a tool for self-expression, healing and personal growth. Carl Jung described Mandala drawing as unconscious attempt to heal one’s inner self.
Mandala is a Sanskrit work meaning 'circle' and it represents wholeness, balance and harmony. Mandalas roots can be traced back to ancient spiritual traditions common to Native American, Hindu, Tibetan and medieval Christian religious practices. Often circular or geometrical in shape Mandalas work on a very subtle level. They can be developed for specific purposes, such as to promote healing, upliftment and protection.
Drawing Mandalas is a sacred art form that has been used for centuries as a meditative focus for healing and personal transformation and it can:
- Help calm the thoughts and emotions
- Be a centreing and joyful experience
- Help in healing, bringing a sense of wholeness
- Be a way of self expression
- Aid Relaxation
- Used as a tool for stress management
- Aid meditation
