The objectives of the course are. understand the principles of occupational health and safety and to apply this knowledge in the workplace, state and understand their legal and moral responsibilities whilst at work. be aware of the practical actions to improve their own health and safety and that of colleagues and others. Suitable for: Senior staff/supervisors and staff who work in unsupervised situations, however all staff would benefit from attending the course.

Duration
A course requiring approximately six hours classroom time and
an allowed one hour for the examination. Candidates will need
to read their course books in their own time to consolidate on
the information given in the classroom.
The objectives of the course are;

be aware of the practical actions to improve their own health and safety and that of colleagues and others
• be aware of the need to report accidents and dangerous occurrences, defective equipment and possible safety hazards
• be aware of action to take in an emergency.
Assessment
All candidates will be required to undertake an end of course,
multiple choice examination,
Qualification
Successful completion of the end of course examination will
result in a nationally recognised qualification; the Foundation
Certificate in Health and Safety, issued through the Chartered
Institute of Environmental Health.
