If you are planning on a career in nursing, midwifery or social Work, the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care will equip you with the range of skills and knowledge needed to work in the profession. As well as learning theory in the classroom you will also be expected to undertake a minimum of 100 hours of work experience giving you the opportunity to apply your skills and knowledge in a care setting. You will also be encouraged to take up voluntary or part time work in a related field which will be a valuable addition to your CV and demonstrate commitment to future employers or be of benefit if you wish to apply for a higher education course. Our lecturers have a range of experience and qualifications in health and social care so don’t just teach theory, but prepare you for a career in the profession. After all, why learn from a book when you can learn from a nurse? Why discuss psychology in a classroom when you could be discussing how to help people with it in a real care setting? If you want to continue your learning and progress to a higher education qualification or university degree, the course will give you the skills that our former students tell us are essential when studying at this level. As part of the course you will have the opportunity to meet with health and social care assessors who are able to provide firsthand experience of working in the profession, along with guest speakers who will give presentations on employment or higher education opportunities. This is a two year full-time course.
