HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE (BTEC Introductory Diploma)
Why should I come to Pendleton College?
A wide variety of styles and experiences are used to stimulate interest in the subject. We have bright, attractive, busy rooms, use of College Learning Resource Centre which has subject specific resources, department resources room, videos, CD ROMS and use of the Internet.
What will I study?
The course covers 8 units over 1 year. The units include:
- Looking after Children
- Working in Health and Social Care
- Health and the Environment
- Starting Work in Health and Social Care
What will I achieve?
On successful completion of the course you can progress onto the Intermediate Health and Social Care Course. You could gain employment in the Health Services, for example, as a nursing support assistant or care assistant.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through coursework.
What else will I do?
Students get the opportunity to do voluntary work, visit hospitals, health services and use the experience of visiting speakers.
