Programme Description:
The Level three BTEC Subsidiary Diploma or Diploma in Health and Social Care are practical based qualifications which allow learners to study units related to the health and social care profession.
The Subsidiary Diploma students have to achieve a minimum of 50 hours of work placement over this one year programme.
Diploma learners have to achieve a minimum of 100 hours of work placement over a two year programme. Diploma students will have the opportunity to study the Welsh Baccalaureate alongside their main qualification.

About this course

Progression and Employment:
The Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma and Diploma in Health and Social Care programmes are widely accepted qualifications in the health and social care sector. Learners wishing to enter the world of work will find these programmes provide an excellent foundation for this field of work.
Upon successful completion of all aspects of the subsidiary diploma (60 credits) or diploma ( 90 credits) learners may then apply to return for an extra year of further study for 120 credits or 180 credit extended diploma.
All level 3 courses have University UCAS points attached, and learners may apply to progress to a variety of Care related degree programmes.

Additional information

Method of Assessment The programme is continuously assessed through the completion of unit assignments which enable the learners to attain a pass, merit or distinction grade. A final cumulative grade is awarded at the end of the programme. Methods of assessment include presentations, essays and practical sessions. There are no formal examinations at present.
