This programme of advanced, post graduate level, specialist skills and knowledge developed in partnership with local NHS and social care organisations across has a broad range of applications including research, collaboration and collaborative problem solving, organisational behaviour, managing and developing people, systems behaviour and analysis, performance and process management, and cultural change; thus developing a key knowledge and understanding of organisations, their leadership and management, and the changing environment in which they operate

Entry to the MSc Health and Social Care Leadership programme requires a 2(ii) undergraduate degree in a relevant subject from a recognised institution. Degree subjects acceptable for all programmes: Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational/speech & language therapy, Physiotherapy, Medicine/Dentistry, Psychology, Radiography

Course programme

Core Modules: Realising Service Improvement: enables development of systems of patient centred evidence based care to result in services to better meet needs of all involved in receipt and delivery of care. Work based learning: enables learning and personal development through individual work based activities and the dissemination of practice that will improve patient care. Leadership, Quality, Innovation and Change: aims to develop the skills and knowledge required by health care professionals to creatively lead the cultural change required to place patients and clients at the centre of care delivery. Research Methods or e Research Methods: an introduction to research methods and presents a platform for students to engage in both quantitative and qualitative research approaches and develop an ability to utilise specific research techniques. Dissertation: supervised research project (20,000 words) Optional Modules: Managing & Developing People: aims to develop knowledge to respond to the contemporary employment and development agenda. Accountability in Health & Social Care: aims to increase knowledge of legal accountability underpinning health and social care provision for clinical and professional decision making skills. Organisational Behaviour in Health and Social Care Organisations: aims to provide a broad overview to key issues arising from contemporary research in OB. MDT Working in Risk Management: develops understanding of principles and practice of interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration.
