What you need to know
How will I study?

You will take a total of 11–13 units to complete this qualification. An example of some of the units you my study are: • Human Lifespan Development • Health and Social Care Values • Effective Communication in Health and Social Care • Social Influences on Health and Wellbeing • The Impact of Nutrition on Health and Wellbeing • Equality and Diversity in Health and Social Care • Individual Rights in Health and Social Care • Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care All learners are required to take or work towards GCSE A*–C English and Maths. In accordance with the new Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) regulations, all students will have to sign a “disqualification by association” declaration form before going into work placements with under 5’s.
How will I be taught?

• Arranging role plays or simulated activities to illustrate examples of good and bad practice, such as the effective/ineffective application of communication skills within health and social care scenarios. • Local employer to set learners a problem-solving activity to be carried out in groups • Invite guest speakers to speak to students to discuss their work and experiences within the health and social care industry. • Visits by learners to health and social care settings.
How will I be assessed?

This qualification includes 2 externally assessed units (the remaining internal) that will assist you to progress either into higher levels of vocational learning or to a related academic qualification by providing independent assessment evidence of learning alongside the portfolio based assessment.
