This is a nationally-recognised, work-related qualification that enables you to acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding required to work in health & social care related careers in a professional capacity. This course alone is equivalent to one A level, however, on successful completion, most students choose to progress onto the Extended Diploma in either Health and Social Care or Health Studies. The two courses combined offer a recognised route onto Higher Education courses such as Nursing, Social Work, Radiography and Counselling. Upon successful completion most students choose to progress onto the Extended Diploma in either Health Studies or Health & Social Care.

Course programme

The Subsidiary Diploma is equivalent to one A level and is made up of six Units of study (three Mandatory and three Specialist). You will study topics such as: Communications for Health & Social Care, Anatomy & Physiology, Health, Safety & Security and Life Span Development. Each Unit has a specified number of learning hours and, depending on the level you achieve, you will be accredited points which then are totalled up in order for you to gain your qualification.
