What you need to know
How will I study?

This course consists of six core units. Work experience is an integral part of the course. Within the first year you will be taught: - Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care - Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care - Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care - Development Through the Life Stages - Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care - Caring for Children and Young People. The second year will offer a variety of specific units and optional pathways in Health Studies or Social Care. Second year units: - Supporting and Protecting Adults - Coping with Change in a Health and Social Care Context - Caring for Individuals with Additional Needs - Dealing with Challenging Behaviour - Caring for Older People - Infection Prevention and Control - Technology in Health and Social Care Services - Working within Health or Social Care
How will I be taught?

Teaching and learning through taught sessions, group work, role play, self study and practical tasks. There will also be a number of trips to help enhance the learning experience for all. Students will have access to a wide range of reading materials within the library, online & IT resources. In accordance with the new Enhanced Disclosure (DBS) regulations, all students will have to sign a “disqualification by association” declaration form before going into work placements with under 5’s.
How will I be assessed?

There will be a variety assignments, which will be assessed in a variety of ways including written projects, essays, presentations, voice recordings and virtual tasks. Assignments are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction. Some of these tasks will need to be submitted online.
