Access courses are designed as a stepping stone to enable motivated, enthusiastic people to progress on to Higher Education. This is ideal for those who want to re-train or re-direct their lives into Social Work, Health Care and Social Care or who want to take a degree in Social Sciences or Health related subjects. There is a very high level of academic and personal support throughout the course, which can help if you need to combine study with part-time employment and family commitments.

Course programme
How do you study? Each unit is worth 3 credits. For successful completion of the access course you will need a minimum of 45 credits at level 3 and 60 credits overall. Each unit at level 3 is awarded a pass, merit or distinction.. Along with your core subject units you will study a range of subjects that build and prepare you for academic study at university level. If you require a higher grade at GCSE English and / or Maths you will be able to study for this alognside your main Access to HE Diploma.
