About this course

Entry requirements You need to be a healthcare professional in active practice, or eligible to be so, with access to learners and educational environments. You will have a first degree (or equivalent), and will have studied at an English medium university in the UK or Internationally (or have a current IELTS certificate score of 7.5 or above).

This module addresses the essential features of teaching and learning in the clinical setting. It draws on the principles of adult learning and is aimed at supporting healthcare teachers as they engage in facilitating the educational journey of others.

Here you will look at the evidence to ensure assessment is robust, valid and reliable and how to balance compassionate, safe and effective patient care whilst developing competent healthcare professionals.

Designing and planning learning in health professions education

The module content covers the principles of curriculum design and evaluation including models and research evidence. Sessions will cover situational analysis and the alignment of teaching and learning activities with outcomes.

Teaching in the clinical setting in health professions education

In this you will develop a reflective portfolio organised around the GMC/Academy Of Medical Educators standards for revalidation.
