The aim of this course is to ensure that delegates have a working knowledge of the Regulations and Codes of Practice that provide a legal framework within which employers and trade unions can make agreements for the functioning of Safety Representatives and Safety Committees.
Course Objectives
This one day training programmes has been designed to provide essential knowledge and understanding of the role of any person / employee representative whose responsibilities include representing employee’s health and safety and related issues.
Good health and safety standards rely on employees working together to reduce risks and prevent accidents and ill health arising from work activities. On completion of the course delegates will have a greater awareness and appreciation of the benefits of effective communication/ co-operation to ultimately protecting both employee welfare, and future business interests
On completion of this Training Course, delegates will be able to:
- Understand and apply the following:-
- The Regulations on Safety Representatives and Safety Committees (SI 1977 No 500) which became effective on 1 October 1978.
- The Code of Practice on Safety Representatives.
- The Code of Practice on Time Off for the Training of Safety Representatives.
- The Guidance Notes published by the Health & Safety Commission.
- Describe how the above Regulations and Codes of practice can be implemented.
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of appointed Safety Representatives.
- Establish and maintain a Safety Committee.
