• Selection is by interview. • 5 GCSEs at grade D or above including English or equivalent •other information including references, assessment results, relevant experience and portfolio material may also be taken into account - need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service application to attend work placements (Approx. cost £45 to be paid on enrolment) Other information such as references, assessment results, relevant experience and portfolio material may be taken into consideration at the College’s discretion. Course Content Units may include: • Communication • Individual rights • Safety • Human development • Creative and therapeutic activities • The impact of diet. How will I be assessed? You will need to complete and pass six assignments, one for each unit. Work experience Work experience is offered as part of this course with local employers; this will enable you to apply your new skills in a real working situation. Progression This qualification is designed to enable you to enter employment at a trainee level within a wide range of health and social care settings. It should be noted that some careers have a minimum age for entry. You may progress to further education, such as the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care or an Advanced Apprenticeship programme. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases. Bursary funds There are financial support arrangements for 16-18 year olds and hardship funds available for the over 19s.
