Course Level 2

Description
This course provides a good background for employment, training and education in a wide range of social care professions; working with the elderly, people with physical disability or learning difficulties. The common skills element and work experience prepares students for the world of work as well as developing their personal skills. This course is equivalent to four GCSEs at C or above.

Course Length
1 Year (full time)

What will I study?
A variety of different care topics will be covered including communication, individual needs, nutrition and creative and therapeutic activities. You will also learn functional skills which are English, Maths and ICT as required.


How will I learn?
Three days a week will be spent in college, with a block of work placement organised by the college. An individual learning plan will also be developed for you to ensure that all your learning needs are met.

How will I be assessed?
Written assignments, presentations, group work and practical skills are used to monitor and access your learning, with an element of external assessment.

Where could it lead?
You could progress onto a National Diploma in Health and Social Care, an Apprenticeship, employment as a Care Assistant or work in the Voluntary Sector.
