Course Overview
This Course is designed for candidates who are working within an environment delivering care to both adults and children.

Course Structure
The course is designed for candidates who are both new and already working in a care setting to gain a nationally recognised qualification at either level two or three. Level two consists of six units a Technical Certificate and two key skills Numeracy and Literacy at level two. The level three consists of eight units, the Technical Certificate and two Key Skills at level two, Numeracy and Literacy.
Candidates will be expected to work through a unit a month and present work on a regular basis. Monthly contact must be maintained with the tutor. Self-discipline is required and a commitment to take ownership of their own self-development, training and learning. This course is designed to be candidate led supported by the tutor. Candidates will need to attend the 16 week key skills programme in college one day a week and may be asked to attend work shops at the college.

Qualification Aims
This course aims to provide the learner with useable skills that will combine with experience to either continue employment at their current place of work, or aid in finding further employment.

Assessments/Examinations
During interview candidates will be asked to complete a literacy/numeracy assessment. Ongoing assessment of workplace practice and written portfolio will be required.
