The award is aimed at those staff working at a management level who have particular responsibility for the allocation of resources and the training and development of staff in the care sector.
The Award has links to NVQ level 4 management and the LMCS Award. It also links to NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care.
Delivery Method
To achieve this award a candidate must complete 8 units, 4 core plus 4 optional.
You will be allocated a workplace assessor who will guide you through the necessary evidence building.
Provision of extra knowledge will be available in any area of the award when necessary
NVQS ARE NOT TRAINING COURSES THEY ARE TO SHOW A LEVEL OF COMPETENCE.
NVQ GLOSSARY OF TERMS
Units
NVQs are made up of units. You have to complete:
6 units for HSC Level 2 (4 Core and 2 Optional)
8 units for HSC Level 3/4 (4 Core and 4 Optional)
Elements
Elements make up the units, and there are a number of elements within the units. Each element is a task that will provide evidence.
Portfolio
This is a folder where you put your evidence. It will have an index and a cross reference system using a well known care text book. Your assessor will give you guidance on building your portfolio.
Assessment
Collection of evidence of performance by a variety of ways to show your competence
Competence
Ability to perform tasks to a particular standard, demonstrating knowledge, understanding and awareness of the task and consequences.
Knowledge Evidence
The underpinning knowledge of a task - that when, where, who, how, what, if - can be shown in performance, questioning, distance packs other evidence.
Performance Criteria (PC)
Doing the task consistently and demonstrating your competence against the national standards.
