Course programme

With the reported growing cost of the National Health Service, it is becoming increasingly difficult to afford to continue to treat the sick at current levels. The solution lies in preventing people from becoming ill and promoting their health and well-being. This is why the Government is supporting the expansion of public health and health promotion, and wanting graduates to have a good understanding of the range of issues that cause ill health, and know how to improve people’s health. The Health Studies programmes aim to meet this requirement. The programmes help students to learn about how to prevent people from becoming ill, and how to promote people’s health and wellbeing. This means understanding that health is influenced by mental, emotional, social, physical, spiritual, political and environmental factors.
