Sociology
Topics include the study of basic sociological concepts, an exploration of the meaning of work, occupational change and gender and ethnic variations in employment.

Economics
Topics include the study of Economic Systems, competition and monopoly, an analysis of wages and labour and market institutions. The macro issues of inflation, unemployment and economic growth are also included.

English and Study Skills
This course concentrates on improving your English for academic purposes and general language, using relevant texts, articles and discussion materials. The course is assessed through examinations (70%) and coursework (30%).
GCSE Mathematics
Students lacking an appropriate High School qualification in Mathematics who wish to go on to a degree may choose the option of taking a GCSE course. This runs alongside the main Social Science subjects, so students will not be losing time from their other courses.
