Course programme

Mental health issues are of increasing concern amongst young people and the incidence of depression and anxiety disorders is rising. It will look at adolescent development and consider what the vulnerabilities and stress factors are that increase the risk of developing depression and anxiety disorders. It will also cover how workers can play an important role in recognising signs and signals of depression and consider some approaches and interventions that help.

The course covers:

  • Key issues relating to anxiety, depression and young people
  • Recognising the possible signs of anxiety and depression in young people
  • The impact of anxiety and depression on young people
  • Risk and protective factors
  • Practical strategies for helping those with or affected by anxiety and/or depression.
