Course review:

VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Mendhi / Henna body Art Time: 10am to 4pm Please inform us if you are already registered with VTCT when applying for a course. We will require confirmation of your candidate registration number. Course comprises of theory and practical tuition carried out at either the Academy or your workplace with assignments completed as home study. This is a fun treatment that applies to all age groups. Learn how to apply temporary tattoos using natural henna, both free hand and with help of stencils. You will also learn how to enhance the henna design.

Course Syllabus

• Health, hygiene, safety & legislation • Preparation of therapist, tools, work area and client • Theory of tools and products • Consultation/record cards • Contra-indications and contra-actions • Benefits of Henna application • Skin test for allergies (patch test) • Step-by-step guide to mixing henna paste • History of Mendhi / Henna • Anatomy and physiology of the skin • Arabic/Indian designs • Contra-indications and contra-actions Post & future treatment advice • Case studies • Workbooks are completed as self study at home to reinforce learning

Day 1 & 2 Practical Skills on Henna Application and powder : Introduction to course work health and safety, setting up work area, contra-indications, consultation and practical skills for Henna designs Setting up work area. Massage techniques & specialist treatments. Day 3: Review of skills development through practical observation/formative assessment, action planning and theory individual portfolio building throughout the course all ranges must be completed at formative stage On completion of self study work books & case studies etc. students will return for practical and written assessments/exams and submission of portfolio. Day 4 - Summative/final practical and written exams/assessments Final written exam Portfolio submission Completed portfolio with photographic evidence Internal /external verification availability * Candidates may progress on completion of this course to either another level 2 Certificate in Nail Treatments or an NVQ unit of beauty therapy and transfer skills and knowledge from this course.
