The Higher Apprenticeship in Engineering Environmental Technologies (Construction and the Built Environment) is a Level 4 Apprenticeship that is suitable for those seeking an environmental or sustainability related career within construction and the built environment. The Apprenticeship develops competence, knowledge and skills which allow the apprentice to respond to environmental issues and specify and advise on better insulated low carbon domestic and industrial accommodation. The Apprenticeship includes core units relating to; ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements; managing the development of self and others; planning construction work processes and efficient use of resources in construction and the built environment; monitoring construction and installation operations and resources to minimise energy and waste in construction and the built environment; monitoring supplies of resources to meet project sustainability requirements; maintaining systems for health, safety, welfare and environmental protection in the workplace; developing working relationships in construction and the built environment. In addition, there is a range of optional units to select from You will achieve a Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Environmental Technologies and a Level 4 HNC Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment.You will learn through a combination of on- and off-the-job training. You will attend college on a day release basis during term time and spend the rest of your time earning and learning in the workplace. You will be assessed on a continuous basis through a combination of knowledge and practical assessment activities, including assessment of activities in the workplace. The Apprenticeship has a minimum duration of 24 months unless you are aged 19 or older and have undertaken relevant prior learning. Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by an Apprenticeship Achievement Officer.
