This course is designed to develop and stretch academic and practical knowledge and skills in the dynamic and varied field of construction and the built environment. This course is offered by Weston College in collaboration with the North Somerset consortium of schools.

The topics you will study include:

· Design the built environment: the design process
· Design the built environment: materials and structures
· Design the built environment: applying design principals
· Create the built environment: structures
· Create the built environment: using tools
· Value and use of the built environment: communities
· Value and use of the built environment: facilities management.

The course will also develop your analytical, creative, problem-solving
and interpersonal skills and open your mind to the possibilities in
construction and the built environment in a variety of organisations and businesses.

During the course you will have the opportunity to achieve additional
qualifications in English and Maths as well as specialist qualifications.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continuously during the course through a range of assignments, work-related research and investigations. You will also be involved in designing and developing systems as part of a project.
