Completion of two years to gain HNC. Plus an additional year to gain the Foundation Degree.

What will I be doing on the course/training?

The Foundation Degree integrates academic and work-based learning. It is intended to equip learners with the skills and knowledge relevant to their future employment, so satisfying the needs of employees and employers. It is a recognised qualification of specific value, but is also expected to provide opportunities for further (life long) study, which could take a number of different forms (eg professional body qualifications, higher level NVQs, etc). It is linked to at least one programme leading to a Bachelor degree.

Year 1 Modules- Mathematics, Mechanical Science, Electrical Science, Study Skills

AND- Design and Computer Aided Design (CAD) for Manufacture
OR- Analogue and Digital Electronics

Year 2 Modules- Engineering Project

AND- Materials for Manufacturing, Production Control Systems, Computer Aided Engineering and CNC
OR- Further Analogue ElectronicsORPolyphase Machines and Distribution, Embedded Systems, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC�s) in Industry

Year 3 Modules- Further Mathematics, Management Systems, Independent Work Based Learning Module

AND- Further Mechanical Systems, Production Management Techniques
OR- Further Digital Electronics, Further Electrical Science

You need to fill in an application form for this course. You will be interviewed by our teaching staff (either in a group or individually) sinceit's important that you understand the content and commitment to the course. At this interview you will be able to enrol and pay for the course if it is suitable for you.

How do I study the course/training and how will I be assessed?

Formal lectures and laboratory work where appropriate. A practical investigating approach to learning will be used both as individuals and in groups. Assignments and Examinations with approximately 50:50 balance.
