How long is the course/training?
This is a two-year, full-time course.
What will I be doing on the course/training?
Skilled people are in high demand in the ever-expanding media industry. This Foundation Degree has been structured to equip you with the broad range of practical and research skills needed to work in all its areas. It will help you develop the critical and analytical perspectives essential for a successful career in journalism, PR and new media. You will analyse a range of media genres and develop important practical skills in media production, communication, problem solving, group work and business organisation. The degree is designed to develop your skills as a professional communicator. At the core of the course is journalism for news and magazines, radio, television and on- line. The course combines theoretical content such as law and ethics with relevant and challenging practical work. Learning in the work place is important throughout the course.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need 160 UCAS tariff points (minimum) from AS, A2 or AVCE programmes, BTEC National Diploma/Certificate - grades MPP/MM, GNVQ Advanced, an appropriate NVQ at level 3, an Access qualification or other qualifications deemed equivalent to the above.

How do I study the course/training and how will I be assessed?
Delivered by experienced journalists, this demanding and hugely-enjoyable programme consists of practical production underpinning theoretical content. The result is a highly relevant course that examines the production and consumption of journalism as well as teaching skills such as page layout, website development, imaging and video, and covering essential knowledge that journalists require such as law and ethics.
