Introduction
Information Technology professionals need to constantly upgrade their skills, both technical and analytical if they need to compete successfully in this most vibrant industry. The BTEC HNC course is an undergraduate programme jointly developed by UK employers and Edexcel, designed for those who wish to develop real practical skills across a range of essential IT areas. The course will enable students to develop their IT analysis, design and development expertise to help solve realistic commercial problems. An HNC will also benefit those already working in IT who wants to gain a globally-recognised Edexcel BTEC skills-based qualification. An Edexcel BTEC Higher National Certificate is recognised as equivalent to the 1st year of a UK University degree and the HND is equivalent to the second year. Many students go on after completing their HND to a one-year ‘top-up’ course to gain a BSc or BA in Computing, Business IT or related field.
