Introduction:
The HNC in Construction is a well established qualification recognised by construction professionals in both the private and public sectors. With this qualification students have the potential to move upward through Higher Education/professional career pathways, or to continue employment at a junior management level.

The course is delivered in a variety of ways including: lectures, tutorials, laboratory workshops, site visits and group work. The course has been devised around the needs of the construction industry and is regularly reviewed to ensure that the taught content is current and accurate.

Study Mode & Location:
This two year, part-time programme will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
The HNC comprises eight modules. Four modules will be studied each year. Year 1 Modules

• BN1091 - Construction Technology
• BN1093 - ICT for the Built Environment
• BN1094 - Legal Studies
• BN1095 - Workplace Module

Year 2 Modules

• BN1092 - Construction Management
• BN1096 - Core Management
• BN2091 - Construction Technology
• BN2096 - Industry Project

Assessment:
Assessment is via a combination of coursework and presentations.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
The programme has been developed to meet the needs of the major functions in construction and has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind. The qualification is recognised by major professional bodies and by employers in both the private and public sectors, as appropriate for supervisory, junior, middle management and technical appointments. The course allows progression to a range of degree programmes validated by the Department of the Built Environment at the University of Central Lancashire, including BSc Degree programmes in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, and Construction Project Management.

Additional Information:
You will be required to purchase the recommended protective clothing necessary for this programme of study.
