Introduction:
This Higher National Certificate (HNC) has been developed to meet the needs of any position that requires a good understanding of project and/or quality management. Most supervisory and management positions require the skills developed by this course and it has been developed with career progression and professional recognition in mind.

Study Mode & Location:
This two year part-time course is studied on a day release basis for one afternoon (Friday) and one evening per week. It will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent's Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
The HNC comprises eight modules (four will be studied each year). These include:

  • Principles of Quality Management
  • Quality Management
  • Business Mathematics & Statistics
  • Business Management Techniques
  • Industrial Studies
  • Marketing



Assessment:
Assessment is via a combination of assessment methods relevant to the particular module including individual/group assignments. There are end of module open book examinations in some of the modules.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
HNCs are universally recognised by employers and enhance promotion prospects in supervisory and management appointments. Students successfully completing this part-time programme may progress to a number of management based courses at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Access to UCLan courses (which include a BA Degree in Business Studies and the Diploma in Management Studies) is normally by interview at the university.
