Content:
The aim of Sociology at Higher is to develop a knowledge and understanding of sociological concepts, theories and methods and their distinctive approach to the analysis and explanation of substantive areas of society. It will promote the ability to interpret, analyse and evaluate sociological arguments, evidence and research methods in a critical way.

Studying Human Society: The Sociological Approach
Understanding Human Society 1
Understanding Human Society 2
The Units focus upon the variety of sociological theories and the perspectives they give to the explanation of human social behaviour.

. Entry to Intermediate 2 requires Intermediate 1 or Standard Grade 3. . Entry to Higher requires Intermediate 2 (Grade A or B) or Standard Grade (1 or 2) or equivalent. . Guidance staff will be happy to discuss and take into account other learning or experience. . If you intend to resit a subject for which you already hold unit passes, please indicate this on your application form. In some subject areas we may offer exam only classes. . If English is not your first language you will be required to demonstrate English language skills equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
