You will complete eight units of study about sport leadership. You will complete a total of 30 hours community work with children, the elderly and people who have a disability. Unit one: introduction to sport leadership. Unit two: sport leadership in the community. Unit three: principles and practice for children in sport. Unit four: principles and practice for people with a disability in sport. Unit six: understanding fitness and emergency situations in sport. Unit eight: demonstration of higher sport leadership skills. Unit nine: organising and running a sport event. You will also have the opportunity to achieve your Level 1 Young Netball Organiser Award and a nine hour First Aid Certificate (Sports Medic).

Duration:

Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
The ability to work in a team is essential.

How will I be assessed?
You will be continually assessed on your practical leadership skills and you will also have to complete a log book.

What can I do afterwards?
This award will build on your skills and confidence, which will enable you to progress to other coaching and leadership opportunities. The Higher Sport Leadership award is highly regarded within the sport industry.

Are there any additional costs involved?
The college provides the HSLA log books. You will be required to pay a refundable deposit which you will receive back once you have completed the course. You will also need to purchase a Higher Sport leadership t-shirt and whistle plus there will be a small charge for the accompanying first aid qualification.
