About this course
To equip learners with the knowledge and skills that they need to be a qualified on site First Aider for their company.
This training is intended for those who wish to be the on site First Aider. They will be responsible for managing all first aid supplies and taking charge within an emergency situation.
There are no entry requirements for this course.
Highfield Level 3 Award in First Aid
Our course is accredited by the Highfields awarding body which offers a Level 3 award in First Aid for the individual to become an onsite first aider.

Course Aims & Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to perform first aid to a casualty, in the event of any emergency. The learner will also qualify as a First Aider within the workplace.
By the end of the session, learners will be able to:
•Understand legislation relating to the workplace and first aid
•State the dangers within workplaces, and any environment
•Understand the importance of hygiene and infection control
•State the aims of first aid and the priorities of treatment
•Identify the procedure for dialling 999
•State the procedure for dealing with casualties during a seizure/stroke/heart condition/burns & scalds/eye injuries
•Identify the procedure for dealing with a casualty with bone injuries
•Identify how to deal with a casualty with breathing difficulties
•Discuss and perform the CPR technique, including different ages
•Discuss and perform the top-toe survey and placing a person into the recovery position
•Discuss and perform how to deal with a choking casualty, including different ages
•Discuss and perform how to deal with a bleeding casualty, identifying how to deal with different wounds
•State the procedure for dealing with a diabetic casualty
•State how to record and report accidents, and where information can be found
•Identify the equipment that can be found within a first aid box
•Identify the causes and signs and symptoms of shock, and how to treat a casualty
•State the procedure for dealing with a casualty suffering anaphylactic shock
•Identify causes and signs and symptoms of poisoning, and how to deal with a casualty suffering from poisoning
