About this course
To study a full A Level programme students will need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade A* to C in appropriate subjects. GCSE English Language at grade C or above is a mandatory requirement for this course. It is preferred that you have a GCSE grade C or above in History.

The Programme
This course provides a programme of study which involves a wide and stimulating choice of content areas including British, European and World History. Students will be involved in discussions, debates, presentations, controversy, problem-solving and group work.
The Programme Content
At AS Level, students will study a Historical Theme in Breadth: the Development of Civil Rights in the USA between 1945 and 1968 and Politics and Society in the USA from 1968 to 2001. They will also study British History in Depth: Britain 1860-1930: The Changing Position of Women and the Suffrage Question. At A2 they will study a controversial historical period: Germany from Kaiser to Fuhrer 1900 to 1945 and a coursework based historical enquiry: The Making of Modern Russia 1856 to 1964.
