The course looks at the fate of monarchies in revolution in 17th century England and the relationship between East and West during the Cold War and involves extensive reading. AS units • 17th century England • The Cold War in Europe 1941 – 1995; A2 units • Russia 1855-1964: you will identify, analyse and evaluate themes such as nature of government and war and its impact on society, running through the period and a Topic based essay is an independently researched essay of 3000–4000 words in length. This unit is a non-exam assessment. Progression History is an excellent preparation for many degree courses including law, politics and journalism. As a national curriculum subject it is especially valuable if you are thinking of a career in teaching. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases.
