History and Present Social Housing Policies, Practices and Governance:

It will provide a general understanding of what social housing is and for you to have the opportunity to consider different types of Housing Organisations, the range of services they offer and how they are governed.

By the end of the day Learners will have had the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the history of social housing.
  • Look at different customer profiles, emphasizing diversity.
  • Look at the relationships between Housing Associations and their customers.
  • Discover more about the structure and changing face of housing associations.
  • Look at the differences between RSL's and housing associations.
  • Learn about the finances of the association.
  • Look at tenancy agreements.
  • Cover the rights and responsibilities arising from the tenancy agreement (anti-social behaviour, rent arrears etc).
  • Look at partnerships and other agencies e.g. repairs, child protection etc.
  • Take a look at future trends in the provision of social housing.
