Standard AS/A level entry requirements of five GCSEs at grade A*-C apply. One of these must be English at grade B as the essay writing component for A level history is very high. Plus a minimum APS Score: 41

Aim The first year will cover two units, both with an end of year examination. The course is broadly modern, studying historical debates and situations that will help students to understand the making of the world we live in. The second year of the course develops AS work in terms of both breadth and depth and includes historical study which will allow students to develop research skills and a greater awareness of primary resource materials.
Content Year 1 - AS level
Unit 1:

This will be a non British unit and you will be studying key developments in twentieth century USA. The exam will be in essay format.

Unit 2:
A source-based unit on British history.

Year 2 - A level
Unit 3:

A modern history unit which develops work of AS in both breadth and depth.

Unit 4:
Coursework - students will research and present an
in-depth historical study on the history of British medicine..

The successful completion of this course will allow students to progress on to a range of Higher Education programmes, or to enter a range of careers including the heritage industries, museums, libraries or archives.
