History
Introduction
Staff research activities range widely, from medieval Europe to modern China, Soviet youth culture to Australian penal colonies, pagan religions to the Holocaust, the environmental history of North America to smuggling in early-modern Bristol, and many more. The broad chronological, geographical and thematic range of our research interests feeds directly into the teaching programme, in particular through a wide choice of research-oriented classes.
Assessment
Assessment is through a combination of exams, essays, projects, a dissertation and a group presentation. Only the second- and third-year marks count towards the final degree result.
