2. Course description The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to Archaeology. Spanning the globe and centuries - from Mesolithic burials in Sweden to modern landfill sites in Arizona - it will teach you how to think like an archaeologist. What does a discarded food packet reveal about contemporary consumption patterns? How can infrared satellite imagery tell archaeologists where to undertake expensive excavation projects? This lively classroom-based course will use a range of teaching methods and visual resources to present examples of places, landscapes, objects and peoples from the past and challenge you to discuss the evidence and come to new conclusions about life in earlier times.
