Overview At a glance Want to help or care for others in your community? Begin with a health course. It will provide you with the knowledge to provide basic health care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and is directly  linked to the Certificate IV in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care. Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care covers workers who provide health care services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients, usually as part of a team, with ongoing supervision and guidance.This qualification reflects the role of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people working at the entry level of primary health care for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander clients. Certificate III may be regarded by many jurisdictions as the minimum level for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health work. In some jurisdictions, however, individuals may start at Certificate II level and, when ready, progress to Certificate III. The qualification structure for Certificate III supports both these options. This qualification is suited to Australian Apprenticeship pathways. Offerings Distance Education

This course is available by Distance Education (online) with two mandatory residential workshops at CQUniversity Rockhampton North campus.

Distance students require strong self motivation and must have 4-6 hours per week available for study for each unit. This course is self paced so students must have sound literacy and numeracy skills. This course is delivered by distance education so students must have access to a computer and the internet. Students are allocated 13 weeks from enrolment to complete each unit.

There are two mandatory residential workshops within this course. These are delivered in Term 1, 2017 and Term 2, 2017. The dates are as follows:
Workshop 1: 20th to 24th February 2017
Workshop 2: Dates to be confirmed - August 2017
