This course is for aspiring composers wanting to learn more about the practical and theoretical techniques for producing music for film, television and the games industry. Composers will develop their creativity using dBs Music's state of the art recording facilities and the latest software including Avid's Sibelius, Pro Tools, Ableton Live, professional orchestral libraries and Native Instruments Komplete suite.

About this course
Suitable for: This course is for musicians and music makers who want to develop their creativity, theoretical understanding as well as the practical skills to compose, record and produce music and sound for TV, Film and the wider media industry.
The official minimum entry requirement is 120 tariff points, with preferably 4 GCSE passes (including English). However, we interview all applicants, regardless of tariff points, as the standard of the portfolio of work which is viewed at interview, coupled with the applicant's experience, enthusiasm and commitment, is given more consideration.
HNC / HND Music For Film & TV
It is taught by musicians, composers and recording engineers with over 30 years of industry experience and gives you the opportunity to collaborate with film-makers and animators on other HND pathways within the college.

Course programme
During this course you will cover the areas of sequencing, audio engineering, audio editing, mixing and production techniques. We will also help you to develop abilities within the other audio production and post-production areas of sound design, sound effects (SFX), dialog replacement (ADR), Foley and location sound. The aim of this course is to enhance a your chances of gaining employment within this exciting industry, giving you the knowledge and tools you need to successfully place your songs in a hit movie, a popular television series or media advertisements. Composers are taught traditional music theory alongside electronic music techniques and encouraged to developed their own style by studying atonal, minimalist, ambient, musique concrete and pop/rock methods to enable a broad range of styles in your toolkit. This exciting course is designed to appeal to aspiring composers wanting to learn more about the practical and theoretical techniques for producing music for film, television and the games industry.
