DESCRIPTION:
An advanced Health Care course for learners wishing to pursue a career in the sector. This is a one year (36 weeks) full-time course which incorporates a significant practical placement element.
This award allows candidates to work within a variety of health care settings in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors as Health Care Support or Senior Health Care Support Workers. It will also help candidates to progress to the Nursing degree programme.

QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRESSION:
Progression to employment in a variety of settings in the statutory, voluntary and private sectors as health care support or senior health care support workers. It will also help participants to progress to a nursing degree programme.

Requirement
There are no mandatory formal qualifications but candidates should have numeracy and communication skills at SCQF levels 5/6 (Intermediate 2/Higher). Consideration will also be given to applicants, particularly mature applicants who have no formal qualifications but whose prior work/life experience and maturity indicate that they may be suitable participants. Such candidates will be given the chance to demonstrate that they possess the necessary communication and numeracy skills during the recruitment process by means of a short assignment which will be undertaken by all candidates. Candidates will also be interviewed individually. Please note that all successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check.
