Course Summary
The course combines practical study through hands-on projects with academic study, participants will gain knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering principles, and their relevance and application to the work of engineering professionals.

The HNC course is offered on a part-time basis over two years and can be topped up to a HND qualification with an extra year of study, either full-time or part-time.

Studying the HNC or HND in Mechanical Engineering course at Rotherham College means that you are able to study for a nationally recognised Higher Education qualification locally and without attending university.

Entry requirements
HNC entry requirements:
A full Level 3 qualification to include a minimum of BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering or a related subject.

HND entry requirements:
The HND is a one year top-up from the HNC Mechanical Engineering. The units gained on your HNC must be transferable to suit the HND matrix.

To include Level 3 Maths and mechanical/electrical principles, or a minimum of two A-Level equivalents in relevant subjects (maths, electronics, physics). Those with significant work experience in the industry may also be considered following interview to assess suitability for the course.
