HND COMPUTING
To apply for a place on this course please access the UCAS website
www.ucas.ac.uk. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Applications
are particularly welcome from mature students and any previous
qualifications and relevant work experience will be taken into
consideration
The following statement applies to 'home' status students
only, ie those who have been permanently resident in the UK or other
members of the European Economic Area for at least 3 years. For 2008/9 the
tuition fee for 'home' status students is £1250. Students may apply for
financial assistance towards the cost of tuition fees and living expenses.
The government offer tuition fee loans, student maintenance loans and HE
grants, the amounts you are entitled to are dependant upon a financial
assessment of your family or partner's income. All students should apply
to their Local Education Authority as soon as possible and in advance of
the academic year.
Entry Requirements
You must be at least 18 years of age and possess
one of the following qualifications:
- 80 UCAS points or higher
(preferably in Computing or a numerate discipline)
- BTEC National
Diploma in Information Technology
- GNVQ Advanced Certificate in
Information Technology
if you are a mature applicant with relevant
work experience, you are invited to discuss your application in an
informal setting. This gives you an opportunity to see what the course
involves and enables us to view your potential.
Description
This
is a two year HND course that will help you to develop a career in the
computing and IT industry. The course offers a flexible framework for
educational and vocational development that enables you to:

is expected that all students will enter for the qualification
Method
of Assessment
Assessment is by a variety of methods including
assignments, case studies, projects and presentations, often working with
outside organisations on real projects and studies. There is no final
examination.
Progression
The HND in Computing is recognised
by universities as being equivalent to a major part of their degree
programmes. Students who are successful at HND level will be able to
continue their studies at university to achieve a degree.
