The media industry is a fast developing, growing sector. The Northwest has recently seen a resurgence of media opportunities with the development of MediaCityUK in Manchester with many major networks relocating to the North.
The HND in Creative Media Production offers students a vocational progression route into higher level Study. It offers an exciting variety of units including: film studies, advertisement production, scriptwriting and video editing. The HND has a broad media base that reflects a professional working environment, standards and experience needed in order for you to be able to find employment within the industry.
This course is perfect for students who wish to develop their professional level skills in Media Production leading to employment in the media sector. The HND also gives you the opportunity to top-up your degree to a full honours degree at university in Media or a similar discipline.

About this course
Upon completion you will have developed skills to a professional standard. Developing a portfolio demonstrating skills required to work in the media industry. The development of MediaCityUK in Manchester has seen many media and major networks relocating to the North. This has seen a sharp rise in the number of employment opportunities in all aspects of media.
For 2017 entry you must have a minimum of 96 UCAS tariff score.
Students are expected to have a minimum of a L3 qualification in a Media related subject achieving a merit at BTEC or C grade at A Level) with a grade C or above in GCSE Maths and English.

Course programme
What will I study?
The HND in Creative Media Production will develop your professional skills both theoretically and practically. It covers a wide range of units designed to develop skills in a number of different areas of media.
The units will educate in the theoretical aspects of different productions (print production, film studies, sound production, advertising) combined with a strong practical element featuring
video production work in a state-of-the-art TV studio, camera skills, editing with industry standard software.
Additionally, you will work with Adobe Creative Cloud programs (including Photoshop) designing print media to professional standards.
How will I study?
Learning will be through practical workshops, lectures, seminars, group work, presentations, live client briefs, self-directed study and research.
You will be supported by a range of resources including library materials and IT access. Additionally, you will have access to a Uni Hub, a dedicated learning environment for degree students.
