You will be assessed on an ongoing basis through assignment-based coursework, although there are some internally set tests. You will be assessed by the College and then externally moderated by BTEC Edexcel. What can I do next After completing your HND, you may wish to progress to university and ‘top-up’ your qualification to a BEng (Hons) Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree programme.

If you choose to work in Electrical Engineering, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and supervising the production of electrical equipment and systems, in fields ranging from transportation and lighting to wiring systems, power generation and transmission. Alternatively, you could choose to specialise in Electronics Engineering, where you will focus more on communications, signal processing, and other electronics systems.

Regardless of the route you choose, you will find jobs available in a broad spectrum of industries including Transportation, Manufacturing and Construction, Power, Utilities and Building Services, in areas such as lighting, heating and ventilation. Future opportunities for Electrical Engineers are looking bright, with rewarding work available in the burgeoning fields of alternative energy, biomedical technology, and personal technology. The increasing need for secure, cost-effective and environmentally efficient energy solutions like solar and wind power has also opened up an increasing amount of engineering jobs in areas such as wind turbine energy and power system security.
