Introduction:
This introductory course to Italian will cover the language required to make acquaintances, travel around, make bookings (hotel/campsites etc), hire vehicles, order meals and drinks, make purchases in a range of shops and, in general, cope with everyday needs. Above all, the aim is to make language learning a thoroughly enjoyable activity.

Study Mode & Location:
This 10 week part-time course lasts for 2 hours a week and will be held at Preston North End Learning Centre, PNE Football Club, Bill Shankley Kop, Hollins Road, Deepdale, Preston, PR1 6RU.

Course Content:
Students will cover the language required to:

  • Make acquaintances
  • Travel around
  • Make bookings - hotel/campsites etc
  • Hire vehicles
  • Order meals and drinks
  • Make purchases in a range of shops
  • Cope with everyday needs


A strong emphasis will be paid to correct, authentic pronunciation and an attempt made to enable students to speak with a reasonable degree of fluency.

Assessment:
Assessment is by continuous evaluation of student progress by monitoring responses in class oral work and the ability to use Italian in situational dialogues.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
This course can lead to 20 week beginner Italian classes.
