DIY for Women
Women have requested a tailor made course just for them, to fulfil the need to carry out routine maintenance and how to deal with emergency DIY tasks.
The course will be run over a two day weekend from 9.00am to 4.00pm, Saturday and Sunday.
During the women's course you will be taught the following, with lots of hands on use of tools and materials:-
DAY 1
Health & Safety.
Introduction to tools, their use and how to use them correctly.
Plumbing – The water system, taps, valves, tanks, cisterns, waste drains. How and where to turn off water, repair that dripping tap, stop a leaking radiator, clear the blocked toilet and more.
Tiling – Introduction to Tiling, use of tiles, types of tiles, adhesives, grouts and trim. How to replace a broken tile, drill a tile, clean tiles and grout and apply sanitary silicon.
DAY 2
Carpentry – Introduction to the safe use of tools – saws, chisels, drills, hammers, screwdrivers – with lots of practise.
Electrics – Changing a 3 pin plug, 3 pin plug fuse, light bulbs – safety with electrics. What you can and cannot do under the current legislation.
Decorating – Preparation, estimating wall paper required, hanging wall paper, painting doors, skirting boards and architraves.
