Course programme
This exciting course is suitable for those with existing knowledge of, or experience with horses, although it is not essential to own your own horse. You will have the opportunity to work in a practical setting, acquiring an industry recognised qualification that will enable you to turn a real interest into a career or higher education pathway.
You will study a variety of different topics in considerable detail - even if you already feel competent in some areas you can be sure that there will be a great deal more to learn and to gain from this course. Previous experience is taken into consideration and will enable you to work at your own level.
The course is taught predominantly from a private yard which houses a variety of horses: ex-racehorses, eventers and show jumpers. There will also be a number of excellent trips and visits throughout the course. If you are considering either a career in the equine sector or a related higher education pathway, then this course will be of great value.
The study pattern for this course is highly flexible being offered as an Extended Diploma, Diploma and Subsidiary Diploma. We are the only College within the area offering Horse Management as a Subsidiary Diploma and this is an attractive option to many students. Popular combinations of Horse Management with A level qualifications might include, Psychology, Biology and Chemistry. This method of study is particularly good for students with an interest in the equine industry but wanting to progress on to more traditional higher education or perhaps those who are not decided upon specific career pathways but just have a love for working with horses!
